Re: Careless coders tempting legal troubles

As they should. Copying the code into another closed source system carries with it all the potential liability, but in a way that is more insidious. 2) If you open-sourced the software when it was written, then it's just not a problem using it at the next job. In my experience, I prevailed upon my previous employer to let me write a paper for a technical conference describing the techniques I used to create the morphing software used back in the early 90's, so that I could use the ideas but not the code at my next job. http://www.hammerh...

SCO's legal expenses

This implies that their legal expenses for calendar year 2003 were on the order of $3 million. Think about it, for a minute, and project into the future. What did Boies do for his $3 million? There was really precious little product for that money. SCO's filings were pitiful and short, and they have really not begun to get into discovery. No litigation has happened yet. There have been only a very few court hearings, and the biggest one of those was run by Darl's brother. Yet, they managed to spend $3 million. If this charade of a trial continues, imagine what the costs will be? For this to go to trial, you would have to believ...

What is the latest SCO SEC report?

Message ID: 16621 Posted By: thaddeusbeier Posted On: 2003-06-23 14:57:00 Subject: What is the latest SCO SEC report? Recs: 3 SCO has filed multiple reports with the SEC recently describing purchases and sales of various options and stocks by officers, nothing too surprising or outlandish. A list of the recent reports is helpfully indexed on SCO's own web site at http://ir.sco.com/edgar.cfm The most recent report filed Friday was filed on paper, rather than electronically, so it is not accessible from the web. I have never seen that in other companies SEC filings. Is there any way of finding out what was contained in that filing? http://ir.sco.com/EdgarDetail.cfm?CompanyID=CALD&CIK=1102542&FID=9999999997-03-2 6478&SID=03-00 I called SCO investor relations, and they have yet to call back. I'm not too surprised. I'll let you all know if I do hear anything back. thad ------------------------------------------------------------ T...
