SCO has no AIX audit rights

Message ID: 22245 Posted By: heimdal31 Posted On: 2003-07-30 11:21:00 Subject: SCO has no AIX audit rights Recs: 1 Our friend Darl was certainly splashing around the "we are going to audit IBM's customers" claim. As many here have pointed out, that hasn't happened. In fact, dear Darl wasn't exactly being honest when he said they had the right to do that. The audit rights are based on the AT&T and SCO contracts with IBM. Those contracts do give the right to audit, but it is the right to audit the source code only that they licensed to IBM. In fact, the original AT&T language that granted IBM the right to sublicense the source code made it clear that IBM wanted that right hardware manufacturers making hardware to work under AIX. So, according to the contracts (remember, that's the thing that lets you attack business partners), SCO can audit the people making drivers for AIX. That's about it. -----------------------------

SCOX stock price behavior

It went from $2 to the current price on speculation about the potential for a payday from the IBM suit. So SCOX announces the CEO is going to Japan and that there is a press conference on Wednesday. Does any of this have any effect on revenue SCO might get? I don't think so, but the stock goes up anyway. What effect do I think Darl is going to have in Japan? None. What effect do I think it will have if SCOX announces some stupid "linux license" on Wednesday? None. At this point you should expect any hype to move the stock. The "greater fool" theory is working. There are starry-eyed sheep that will toss money into this stock on every piece of hype that comes along. In the absense of new hype, it will trend down. Don't complain about it, adapt and use the kno
