Subject: SCO has no AIX audit rights

Our friend Darl was certainly splashing around the "we are going to audit IBM's customers" claim. As many here have pointed out, that hasn't happened.

In fact, dear Darl wasn't exactly being honest when he said they had the right to do that. The audit rights are based on the AT&T and SCO contracts with IBM. Those contracts do give the right to audit, but it is the right to audit the source code only that they licensed to IBM. In fact, the original AT&T language that granted IBM the right to sublicense the source code made it clear that IBM wanted that right hardware manufacturers making hardware to work under AIX.

So, according to the contracts (remember, that's the thing that lets you attack business partners), SCO can audit the people making drivers for AIX. That's about it.
