Excellent link, extremely entertaining, thanks a bunch.
My girlfriend (ITC, U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer w/ 23 years data process/IT/SysAdmin, about to retire and move into civilian IT admin) and I (QA Manager/senior IT staffer, 35 years telecommunications electronics/metrology/satellite tech and networking) were watching the Titans and Panthers having a go at it last night when we saw the IBM Linux commercial, the one with the male child dresed in white for the first time.
We just turned and stared at each other on the couch and our jaws hanging.
Some pretty good media psycholigists must have breathed into this one. It caught our attention immediately due to the "apparent" strangeness of it right down till the closing shot. I suspect it had a similar "gotcha" effect on most of the viewers who hadn't run to the fridge for another brew or to the bathroom to dispense with the last one.
Say what you will and like it or not, there are probably millions of non techie, non IT football fans all over the country scratching their heads and asking "What th' hell is a Linux???"
After six or seven years learning, promoting, installing, and just plain enjoying the freedom of control we now have over our communications, computing, and entertainment appliances th' Chief and I agree on one thing. This is a good thing and long overdue.
Questions will be asked, answers will be forthcoming and the legitimacy of Linus' baby will be confirmed publicly as never before.
Take note corporate IT decision makers and private end users alike. Deliverance is nigh.
Rejoice penguins, our time is at hand.
