Subject: In defence of SCO's management

People often are too short sighted. Their only perspective is money, money, money. But every responsible investor in SCO should be aware that greed isn't everything in life: don't forget to show benevolence and charity from time to time.

Look at SCO's management: They seem to be a bunch of pretty modest folks. They are demonstrating charity by their actions each and every day.

1) they were content with the lesser money they made selling their Linux licenceses to a hand full (OK, some fingers amputated) of corporations so far. SCO could have charged millions of Linux users for their 'IP' reaping in billions of $$$. But they didn't. Because making money isn't SCO management's primary goal. Modesty is.

2) SCO could have enforced violations of their IP against SGI, which had stolen millions lines of valuable code. But they didn't. SCO now has extended indefinitely Silicon Graphics Inc's deadline of October 14 to remedy alleged contractual violations. Because SCO folks love SGI people. As Darl McBride has put it "contracts are what you use against partners" [only if your chances are better than playing the Mississippi Lottery].

3) SCO's management could have insisted on those contracts between their lawyers from Boies, Heise, Schiller & Flexner & Co. But as SCO's management found out that their defence team might be rewarded less than hoped at the beginning, they happily offered 1 million in cash and some portion of their valuable stock worth currently about 7 mil $ and some change.

So for everybody to see, SCO is continuing to pursue a truely philantropic approach doing business. Those claiming that SCO's previous behaviour would prove greed, theft of copyright and immoral business practices are completely wrong. Investors in SCO shouldn't listen to those ignorant bashers and unwashed, long haired Linux zealots. This stock is a gem.
